Bangalore: A 10-wicket victory over Punjab and a tie against Rajasthan helped Karnataka enter the quarter-finals of the National Sub-junior Women's championship at Indore, according to information received in Bangalore.After a pulsating tie in the first game, the Karnataka girls overwhelmed Punjab by 10 wickets in the second match. Punjab was bundled out for a paltry 29 runs with Aatmaja (three for one), Pooja (three for two) and Supriya Nelhal (three for six) turning out to be the wreckers. Needing to score 30 runs in 10 overs to qualify, the Karnataka girls achieved the target in 8.2 overs with Sindhu (16 not out) and Supriya (11 not out) ensuring a 10-wicket victory. In the earlier match, Karnataka restricted Rajasthan to 98 for seven in 25 overs on opting to field. Manju Meena (23) was the top scorer for Rajasthan, while Aatmaja picked four wickets conceding 10 runs. Fighting the spirited bowling performance of Anuradha (two for 12), Krithika (two for 13) and Anupriya (two for 14), the Karnataka girls also managed to reach 98 for seven in 25 overs. Karnataka, in fact, required four runs for victory in the last over, but managed to get only three. Sindhu (36) took the batting honours.
