Durban: Ali Bacher, chief executive officer of the World Cup 2003, on Monday warned Indian companies that ticket packages sold to them will be cancelled if they don't immediately stop using them as prizes in competitions and lotteries. The warning came after the World Cup organising committee claimed that there had been recent incidents of "ambush marketing" in India. "Holders of tickets would be assured of smooth entry to the WC matches," said Bacher."Deadlines have been set for these written undertakings to ensure that any cancelled packages can be resold. We believe that the companies involved will cooperate with us and we look forward to welcoming a great many Indian tourists to South Africa. "It is extremely important that people only purchase WC packages through the authorised travel agents."Meanwhile, the organising committee says only 50,000 tickets for sale in Zimbabwe and Kenya are still to be sold. All the remaining tickets for sale in South Africa have been sold and the WC committee is expecting a successful event from all counts.
