Mumbai: Punjab middle order batsman Sumit Sharma's stylish 103 off 144 balls helped his team score 310 for nine off 100 overs and gain a 139-run first innings lead over Mumbai in the under-15 all India knock-out cricket final for Polly Umrigar Trophy on Saturday. North Zone champion Punjab, resuming at its overnight score of five for one, batted responsibly with Sumit Sharma being a guiding force with two good partnerships. West Zone champion Mumbai was 171 all out in its first innings. Sumit Sharma, who slammed 14 fours in his 174 minutes stay at the wicket, added 79 runs for the third wicket off 147 balls with opening batsman Gurkirat Singh (46 off 124 balls with three fours). Singh and Siddharth Sharma (21 off 67 balls) had put on 45 runs off 19 overs for the second wicket. Sharma added another 76 runs off 166 balls for the fifth wicket with bowling hero Gaurav Gambhir (68 off 114 balls with seven fours) to put his team in the driver's seat. For the host right-arm medium pacer Rohan Bagwe (four for 52) and the two left-arm spinners Dhaval Parab (two for 85) and Sagar Mulye (two for 75) were among wickets.
