Mumbai: Veteran speedster Javagal Srinath was on Monday dropped from the national team while leg spinner Anil Kumble has opted out of India's tour of New Zealand starting from November 30.
Left-arm spinner Murali Karthik and wicket-keeper Ajay Ratra have been recalled in the 16-member Test squad announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary S K Nair. Nair said Anil Kumble has not been selected since he had made himself unavailable for the 47-day tour of New Zealand while the selectors preferred to 'rest' Srinath. Nair said the team for the five One-day Internationals will be selected in mid- December. India: Saurav Ganguly (captain), Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Sanjay Bangar, Sachin Tendulkar, V V S Laxman, Parthiv Patel, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh, Murali Karthik, Mohammed Kaif, Ashish Nehra, Shiv Sundar Das, Ajay Ratra and Tinu Yohannan.
