Kolkata: Himachal Pradesh posted a healthy 208 for five in its second innings at the end of the third day after wrapping up the Bengal first innings for a measly 171 on the third day of the Ranji Trophy tie between the two sides.
Skipper Vikram Rathore led the Himachal assault again, but was unlucky to miss his century in both innings, getting out at 91 after trying an audacious shot in fading light just before the day's play ended. He scored 120 runs in his first outing. Rathore 's 91 was scored in 194 minutes and studded with 11 fours and one six. V Sharma remained not out at 36 and night watchman R Panta was not out at one. Bengal skipper Rohan Gavaskar claimed the all important wicket of Rathore taking a low catch in follow through when Rathore tried to hit past him. Earlier, the Bengal innings folded up after adding only 43 runs to its overnight score of 128 runs for seven wickets. While Ashish Kapoor claimed five wickets, Ashok Thakur lapped up four of the Bengal wickets. As per the new point system, the visitors have already ensured one point due to its first innings lead.
