Perth: Former Test fast bowler Paul Wilson spearheaded Western Australia to an overwhelming win over Sheffield Shield leaders Victoria at the WACA on Saturday. Shaping up in his first Shield outing for his new State after leaving South Australia, Wilson, 29, snapped up 6 for 76 as Victoria crashed for 237 in its second innings to lose by an innings and 69 runs just after lunch on the third day of a match scheduled for four days. It was a crushing setback for the Shane Warne-led Victorians, who had won outright two of their three previous matches. Warne, who played a key role in Australia's massive first Test win against England in Brisbane, had an unusually flat match, taking 1-71 from 22 overs of leg-spin bowling in Western Australia's innings and making 25 and 0 with the bat. Resuming with 143 for three in its second innings as it attempted to overhaul Western Australia's 416, Victoria, routed for 110 in its first innings, was all out for the addition of only 94 runs. Wilson, whose two first innings scalps gave him a match haul of eight wickets, was well supported by former Test left-arm spinner Bradley Hogg (3-32).
