Bangalore: MAX's cricket promotion with Kapil Dev, 'Gully Cricket', will kick off its second round beginning November 16 as a run-up to the International Cricket Council's (ICC) World Cup South Africa in 2003, according to an official press release. 'Gully Cricket' will be held across eight cities from November 2002 to January 2003, beginning with Kolkata on November 16. Fans across these cities will get an opportunity to bowl Kapil Dev out in the streets and gullies of their towns and cities and receive cricketing tips and interesting MAX merchandise from the legendary cricketer. "The first round of 'Gully Cricket' was a tremendous success for MAX when it was held in August and September, prior to the ICC Champions Trophy," MAX executive vice- president and business head Rajat Jain said. "Thousands of fans turned up at the various locations in the five cities where it was held. The promotion was a huge success for MAX as we ignited the cricket fever among our viewers and cricket fans and conveyed the message that the world's best cricketing action was to take place on MAX with the ICC cricket tournaments," he added. "I've had great fun with 'Gully Cricket'. It gave me an opportunity to play my favourite game with my fans - children, teenagers and even much older people. The atmosphere was charged with cricket fever, and I am looking forward to the second round of 'Gully Cricket' with MAX," brand ambassador Kapil Dev said.
