Family thrilled to have Tendulkar around for Diwali

Mumbai: For the Tendulkar household, the festival of lights this year would hold an extra glow with the master batsman Sachin being around to celebrate Diwali with the rest of his family for the first time since his marriage.

"This is probably the first time that Sachin will be spending time with the family during Diwali. Usually he is always touring during the festive season," the cricketer's wife Dr Anjali told on Monday. "Though of course, both Sachin and I would rather have preferred that he was playing, we do not really grudge this forced holiday," she said referring to Sachin missing the One-day series against the West Indies after he aggravated a hamstring injury during his match-saving innings of 176 at Kolkata on Sunday. "My son Arjun (3) and daughter Sara (5) are also thrilled to have their father around. It is going to be family time for all of us with Sachin's brother and cousins dropping," she said. While the Tendulkar household would have the usual round of setting off firecrackers and munching Diwali sweets and savouries, it was largely going to be a quiet family get together for the entire Tendulkar clan. Sachin, who flew in Sunday night from Kolkata, was resting, his wife informed.
