Lenasia (South Africa): The Rest of South Africa ended up with 368 for eight at close of play on Sunday on the third day of its four-day match against Sri Lanka at the Lenasia Stadium.
That gave the South Africans a lead of 32 runs over the tourists. Kruger van Wyk (40) and Garnett Kruger (six) were still standing firm when bad light brought the players off prematurely, but with a day already lost to bad weather the likelihood of a result looks slim. Davey Jacobs struck 22 fours and hit two enormous sixes in a 177-ball career best 146 before he was caught at deep extra cover by Sanath Jayasuriya off Hasantha Fernando. Earlier, the tourists resuming on their overnight score of 315 for five, added just 21 runs before the declaration came, eight overs into the morning session. The overnight pair of Hashan Tillekaratne (79) and tour rookie Hasantha Fernando, who stroked seven fours and a huge six -- dispatched over square-leg off Garnett Kruger -- in a robust 57, struck an unbeaten 95 for the sixth wicket. Jon Kent was the most successful South African bowler, taking two wickets for 32 runs.
