Mumbai: Former England wicket-keeper Bob Taylor feels that a wicket-keeper should have a good pair of hands and total concentration in order to make it big in the world of cricket.
Speaking to reporters informally on Wednesday night on the conclusion of three-day wicket-keeping clinic organised by Cricket Club of India (CCI), Taylor said the most important quality a wicket-keeper should possess is concentration. "The people watch a wicket-keeper right from the day one of the Test match till the end of the play. The only thing they (the people) see in a keeper is his level of concentration. So to me concentration comes first than other things," Taylor said. Add concentration to skill and ability to move along with the ball, and nobody can stop a wicket-keeper from succeeding, he felt. Commenting on the budding wicket- keepers who participated in the clinic, Taylor said they are young, enthusiastic and talented but their real test comes when they go into the middle. "I can only help them in improving their skills and strengthen their basics but I cannot go and play for them. It's only they who have to perform and here they are tested as far as match temperament is concerned," he added.
