Bangalore: The seventh edition of the TNT Cup inter-corporate cricket tournament was officially launched at the Karnataka State Cricket Association Stadium on Tuesday by former ace wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani. Host TNT will meet Hutch Telecom in the inaugural match at the St Joseph's Hostel ground on Saturday.
"The corporate cricketers should aim to match the national stars at the international level. The corporate cricketers too have a high level of cricket and must put their heads together to internationalise the game," Kirmani said at the captains' meet and inaugural function. The tournament to be played on a league-cum-knock out basis comprises 24 top corporate teams of Bangalore divided into four groups. The top two teams will move on to the quarter-finals in the matches to be played over the weekends, an official press release issued on the occasion said. India cricketer Mamatha Maben of Thatscricket.com was the guest of honour. The teams: Group 'A': ANZ IT, Pepsi, Fire-Pro, Mascot Systems, IBM and Texas Instruments. Group 'B': TNT India Ltd, Hewlett Packard, Novell Systems, Hutch Telecom, Thomson Finance Systems and Netkraft. Group 'C': Tanishq, IMR Global, Standard Chartered Bank, Infosys, Axa Business and Cisco Systems. Group 'D': Siemens, Taj Hotels, Celestream, Kindle Systems, Tata Tea and C- Dot.
