Chennai: Ace cricketer and former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev, said on Thursday that he was toying with the idea of having more "stakes" in the Pune-based Kinetic Engineering, one of the largest manufacturers of two-wheelers in the country.
"I have signed a three-year contract with Kinetic to be its brand ambassador for their motorcycle, 'Boss'. My company, Dev and Dev, will like to have more stakes in Kinetic, if our relations went further. I will even think of making some investments in Kinetic and be a partner in the company," he told reporters after a paying a visit to the houses of four lucky customers in the city, as part of the brand promotion, 'Boss chalao, Kapil ko bulavo' (ride Boss and call Kapil). Kapil dev said a decade ago, there was just one top brand, be it in cars, motorcyles or scooters. On Thursday, the customers can choose anything of their choice. "India has the technology to produce a quality product and it need not depend on imported products." General manager of Kinetic Engineering, P Chaudhry, said Kapil, the brand ambassador for Boss, visited Kolkata on Wednesday. He would visit Bangalore on Friday and four more cities before the end of Diwali, as part of special promotion for the motorcycle. Boss, launched in June last, is the third offering in motorcycle segment by Kinetic Engineering, after 'Challenger' and 'GF 125'. It has already begun exports of Boss worldwide, especially to Latin America and South Asia, Chaudhry said adding that the company was planning to sell over 75,000 motorcycles in the first year of the launch.
