Mumbai: In the view of terrorist attack on crowded Swaminarayan temple in Gandhinagar, Maharashtra government on Wednesday reviewed security arrangement for the ensuing matches with touring West Indies in the state to prevent any untoward incident. "We want to step up security at places where there is a large gathering to prevent any untoward incident and will be providing additional protection for the cricket matches," the Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, who also holds Home portfolio, told reporters. Earlier, Bhujbal presided over a meeting of senior police officials and representatives of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to deliberate over security arrangements for the matches. Police would be maintaining a tight vigil at hotel rooms, where the cricket stars would be put up, monitor visitors at the hotel room and the stadium, Bhujbal said. The home minister categorically ruled out that the government has received any threats from the militant groups. "There are no threats but we do not want to take any chances." Meanwhile, Mayank Khandwala, MCA joint secretary, said that the government has assured tight security during the matches in Maharahstra. "They have promised additional security for Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly and star batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who are already provided with Z category security," he said.
