Chennai: A patient unbeaten 95 by captain Deepak Chougule helped Karnataka to recover in time and score 199 for 4 in its first innings at close on the first day of its three-day match against Andhra Pradesh in the South Zone U-19 Championship on Wednesday.
Electing to bat, Karnataka was in deep trouble losing three wickets with the total on 50. But, Chougule played a captain's knock to prevent any further damage, adding 148 runs for the fourth wicket with Gopalan Bharadwaj (65). At close, Chougule (96) and Udit Patel (1) were at crease. For Andhra Pradesh, left- arm spinner G Shankara Rao claimed two for 49 from 32 overs of which 10 were maiden.
