Lack of experience is our big weakness, admits Hooper
We lack experience, that is our weakness," he told reporters at Chennai airport soon after the arrival of the team from Colombo. Talking to reporters before leaving for Bangalore, Hooper, a seasoned campaigner, said his team was confident of giving a good fight. "I know it is not going to be easy. But we have been batting well of late and our bowling is also improving," he said adding that "our strength is we have a young side and we still feel we can have a good tour". The man, who had on many a occasion played a sheet anchor role, recalled that, "we won the Test series 2-1 and albeit losing the One-day series, we were close to winning that also". On the absence of Brian Lara (ruled out due to suspected case of hepatitis), the West Indian captain said Lara's absence "will be felt badly. He (Lara) is a great player and he would been a great asset." He said the series was not going to be easy "but we will do well". Another cricket veteran I V A Richards, who also arrived with the team and was stormed by enthusiastic youngsters in the domestic terminal of the airport for autographs declined to say anything on the strength and weaknesses of the team. "I have just come as a selector. I will have to sit down with the coach and manager and sort out things," Sir Richards said smilingly. The Caribbean players are scheduled to play three Test matches and seven One-dayers after their three-day tour opener against Board President's XI in Bangalore starting from October 4.
