Mumbai: The Carl Hooper led West Indies team would leave Colombo and land in Bangalore on October 1 on its 56-day tour of India. Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) executive secretary Sharad Diwadkar said on Friday that the West Indians who are practicing in Sri Lanka to get acclimatised to the conditions in sub- continent, would leave for Bangalore via Chennai.
The visitors will play their tour opener against Board President's XI at Bangalore from October 4 to 6 before the first two Test matches at Mumbai (October 9 to 13) and Chennai (October 17 to 21). The Windies team, without the services of left hander and highest individual Test run getter Brian Lara, will play a three-day match against the India 'A' at Pune from October 24 to 26 before the third and final Test at Kolkata (October 30 to November 3). The Windies will also play seven One-dayers at Jamshedpur (November 6), Nagpur (November 9), Rajkot (November 12), Ahmedabad (November 14, day-night), Vadodara (November 18), Jodhpur (November 21) and Visakhapatnam (November 24). Former West Indies batsman Vivian Richards, who is the chairman of the selection committee, will be with the team during the tour while former off spinner Roger Harper will be the coach. Extras:
