Chennai: Andhra and Tamil Nadu are all set to progress to the next grade, while the Hyderabad-Karnataka match was evenly poised at close on the second day of their three-day South Zone Under-19 Cricket tournament.
Andhra took a 88 run first innings lead as it was all out for 201 in 67.4 overs on Friday and then skittled out Kerala for 141. Leg spinner B Srivaradan claimed 6 wickets for 131 runs in three deadly spells. In the Tamil Nadu-Goa match, the hosts made a modest 392 for 7 declared. D Karthikmade the most of a weak Goa attack, striking a superb 227 off 244 balls in 293 minutes. He departed, caught at short cover by Sher Bahadur Yadav off Aditya Angle. He was also involved in three valuable partnerships. Later, Goa was in a precarious position, having made 81 for 6 in its second innings. Offie Abdul Mallick grabbed three wickets for 17 runs. In reply to Hyderabad first innings score of 375 all out in 144.4 overs, Karnataka was 114 for 4 in 34 overs, with the third wicket pair of Deepak Chowgale (47) and Stewart Binny (23) making 65 runs in 14 overs. Earlier, off spinner Dharmichand had a fine bowling spell of 7 for 16.
