Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a final decision on shifting the triangular series to Nairobi and has dispatched separate letters to the Australian and New Zealand Boards formally inviting them to take part in the tri-series beginning from August 29.
"We have sent letters to both Boards and the contents are the same. We will now wait for their response. But our decision to have the triangular series in Nairobi is final," PCB director Brig Munawwar Rana told daily 'The News'. The ACB also confirmed that it had received a letter from the PCB regarding the triangular series in Nairobi. The ACB also said it was still awaiting personal security assurances from the PCB for its players as it wanted to tour Pakistan in October for a Test series. Rana said he would not like to comment on the ACB asking for security assurances, saying this was something being directly dealt with by the chairman Lt General Tauqir Zia. "But in the past also we gave security assurances to the New Zealand team through our government," he said. Pakistan has been forced to shift due to security concerns raised by the Australian and New Zealand Boards about touring Pakistan in the wake of two bomb blasts in Karachi. Rana said the PCB was now working out modalities of shifting the triangular series to Nairobi and its broadcasting agents TWI were also doing their homework.
