Jalandhar: An 87-run partnership between Vinod Kambli and skipper Jacob Martin helped West Zone to a five-wicket win over South Zone in a Deodhar Trophy Limited Overs match on Friday. Electing to bat South scored 215 runs for the loss of six wickets in 41.4 overs when rain stopped play. Chasing a revised target of 198 runs in 29 overs, West coasted to victory with Kambli top scoring with 63 and Martin hitting 53. Kambli's 63 came off 69 balls with six boundaries and Martin's quick-fire half century contained four boundaries and a six in 49 balls. Earlier, West Zone bowlers Robin Morris and Sairaj Bahutule were the main wicket takers claiming two wickets each. After losing Daniel Manohar's wicket in the very first over, Hemang Badani (62) and Arun Kumar (34) put the South innings back on the rails. Vijay Bharadwaj then scored a brilliant 74 to help South set a tough target. With Friday's win West Zone has four points.
