The Prima Donna of women's cricket in India, Shantha Rangaswamy is a recipient of many-a awards for her outstanding performance in the field of cricket. She received the prestigious Arjuna Award in 1976, the Ekalavya Award in 1993, the Kannada Rajyotsava Award in 1997 and the Best Sports Woman of the year awarded by the Sports Journalist Association of India. She also has the distinction of captaining the country from 1976 to 1985 having toured Australia, New Zealand, England, West Indies, Sri Lanka, USA, Canada and Singapore.
